I just had a random stream of thought and I wanted to write it down.
Maybe I have been reading too many post apocalyptic stories and I am trying to write one myself.
Let’s do a what if exercise. What if you woke up one morning to no power (electricity)? What if it didn’t come back? How much of who you are, what you do, how you do it, and who you do it with is wrapped around electricity, internet, and air conditioning. The ability to go to a store and get groceries? What if no planes or ships come to the island?
If I got you thinking about these things, the next logical thought is what to do about it, which is where I was going anyway.
Figure out who can do what, network, barter, cooperative efforts without power or internet or resupply.
What grows here naturally? What can you do as a community to be self sustaining?
I hear people talking derisively about “preppers”. They might have a good idea. And back to an earlier point: there are no laws in the books that you have to report in kind gain. Example: I have a lot of producing plants on my property, I agree with the family next door to trade my produce for meat from the chickens and hogs he butchers.
I’m saying start thinking about these things and maybe start doing something?
Of course I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the God view of this and ask “Are You Ready”
